Because I have tasted
A life so bitter 
So the good things ahead 
Will taste much sweeter 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So I am made stronger 
To face the winter

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So nothing is wasted 
To make things better 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So the meaning of life 
Is so much clearer

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So I am more settled 
And much happier

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
God's Mercy and Grace I
Understand better 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
My dependence on God 
Is so much greater 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
God's loving kindness I 
Indeed so treasure 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So my walk with the Lord
Is so much closer 

Because I have tasted 
A life so bitter 
So my love for the Lord 
Has grown much deeper
